Theatre and hand puppets
Children can retell stories and fairytales with hand puppets and in doing so take an active part in the story. A fun activity that works with the child’s memory and is a great activity for groups of children.
You could also use your imagination and come up with some new additions to the story, it’s a good idea to take turns so that all of the children can contribute with their own ideas and feel heard.
When children learn, they use all of their senses, which makes theatre a great activity. Here, children can listen, watch and take part.
Read a story and give the children roles to play, when it’s their turn to tell the story. This challenges their auditory memory, “Is it my part coming up?”. The changes in the story strengthen the child’s spontaneous language production and imagination.
